T/SGT Jack D. Ley entered military service at Fort Sam Houston on November 13, 1943, serving in the United States Army Air Force for the duration of World War II.
Afer the war, Jack became a lifelong Killeen, Texas resident and farmer involved in multiple businesses. He became a Councilman for the West Ward of the City of Killeen from April 13, 1955 to April 10, 1957.
T/SGT Jack D. Levy was a member of the American Legion for 31 consective years. During his tenure, he served as a Division Commander of the American Legion, the Commander of the 11th District, and twice served as Commander of Post No. 223 in Killeen.
T/SGT Jack D. Levy displayed throughout his life of service to the American Legion, a superior level of leadership, combined with unwavering devotion to duty.
In 2023, the membership of Post No. 573 unanimously voted to construct The American Legion T/SGT Jack D. Levy Post No. 573 Flagpole Memorial in dedication to the post's namesake. Providing everlasting memory and recognition to our Veterans and the American Legion Family.
